Profile

El Dr. Jorge Gironás actualmente se desempeña como Profesor Asociado de la Escuela de Ingeniería de la Universidad Católica de Chile. Su área de especialización es la hidrología superficial y la simulación de procesos hidrológicos, particularmente en áreas urbanas y semiurbanas. El Dr. Gironás es un especialista del modelo SWMM y es el principal autor de un manual de aplicaciones de dicho modelo para la Agencia de Proteción Ambiental de los EE.UU. Su investigación se centra en la relación entre sistemas antrópícos y el agua, entendida ésta tanto como un recurso o como una amenaza. Sus investigaciones y trabajos más destacados son en el área de modelamiento de procesos hidrólogicas, gestión de aguas lluvias y simulación, predicción y pronóstico de eventos extremos. Estas líneas de trabajo las desarrolla como como investigador del Centro de Desarrollo Urbano Sustentable (CEDEUS), el Centro de Investigación para la Gestión Integrada de los Desastres Naturales (CIGIDEN) y el Centro Multidisciplinario de Cambio Global (CCG-UC)
