Profesional con más de 25 años de experiencia en análisis y modelación de calidad del aire; ha publicado 50 artículos relacionados con la calidad del aire en Chile en revistas científicas internacionales y ha hecho más de 20 presentaciones en congresos internacionales y nacionales.
Ha supervisado a veintisiete alumnos de Ingeniería, ocho alumnos de maestría, ocho alumnos de doctorado y varios alumnos de pregrado (IPRE). Ha sido árbitro revisor de más de 30 publicaciones internacionales en contaminación atmosférica en los últimos cinco años. Ha realizado cursos de capacitación en Calidad del Aire a personal de organismos públicos y privados en Chile y en América Latina.
Ha dirigido varios estudios de apoyo técnico al sector público, tales como los estudios de calidad del aire (MP10) en Tocopilla y en Calama, que han apoyado sendas declaraciones de zona saturada; la modelación de la calidad del aire en la Región Metropolitana, la evaluación costo-beneficio ambiental de Transantiago, el soporte técnico del sistema Airviro de calidad del aire en la Región Metropolitana, varios proyectos desarrollados para SECTRA en externalidades ambientales del transporte y numerosas asesorías ambientales a proyectos mineros y termoeléctricos.
Ha participado en la revisión de estudios de impacto ambiental de grandes proyectos como las centrales termoeléctricas de Nehuenco y San Isidro (V Región), el proyecto Alumysa (XI Región), la normativa de regulación de olores de la industria de celulosa Kraft, etc.
Se ha desempeñado (“ad honorem”) como experto ambiental para el PNUMA (UNEP) en el equipo de autores del Capítulo 2 (Atmósfera/Calidad del Aire) del Global Environmental Outlook (GEO-4 //www.unep.org/geo/), publicado el año 2007.
Es investigador asociado del Centro de Desarrollo Urbano Sustentable (www.cedeus.cl).
Es entrevistado frecuentemente por los medios nacionales en temas de calidad del aire.
