Profesor Asociado del Departamento de Ciencia de la Computación. Mis intereses principales son los sistemas donde tecnologías y métodos de inteligencia artificial interactúan directamente con seres humanos. Me interesa desarrollar algoritmos que permitan personalizar el contenido y comportamiento de sistemas cuando se interactúa con el usuario, pero a la vez me interesa investigar cómo el usuario hace uso de estos sistemas y cómo afectan su percepción y comportamiento. El diseño y conducción de estudios de usuario, el análisis de comportamiento de usuarios usando minería de datos, y el uso de visualizaciones tanto para crear aplicaciones como para analizar los datos son parte de mis áreas de interés.
Mi experiencia docente se remonta a clases de Programación y de Ingeniería de Software en la Universidad Austral de Chile entre los años 2004 y 2007. En la actualidad estoy a cargo del Exploratorio en Ciencias de la Computación y del curso de Data Mining el Magister en Procesamiento y Gestión de la Información (MPGI).
A partir del 2008, fecha en que inicio mi programa de PhD en la Universidad de Pittsburgh (PA, USA), me dedico principalmente a actividades de investigación en el área de sistemas recomendadores, incluyendo 2 pasantías de investigación en el TCD Dublin (en colaboración con IBM) y en Telefonica I+D en Barcelona. Me gradué de Doctor en Ciencia y Tecnología de la Información en Agosto de 2013, obteniendo un best stiudent paper award el 2011 en la conferencia UMAP, y una nominación a best paper en Hypertext 2012.
