Alfonso Cruz

Profile

Professor Alfonso Cruz holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA), and a Ph.D. in Technological Innovation from the University of Sussex (UK). He was awarded the "President of the Republic" Scholarship to pursue his doctoral studies abroad.

He has been a full-time professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile since 2010. His research and teaching focus on innovation and entrepreneurship -specifically regarding science, technology, and innovation policies; science and technology based innovation and entrepreneurship; technology transfer; and competitive strategy.

He possesses extensive teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He currently teaches courses on "Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship," "Strategic Innovation Management," and "Project Evaluation." He has been invited to give lectures, seminars, and courses in his areas of expertise at numerous universities and organizations in Chile and abroad, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, Spain, and various Latin American countries.

He serves on the Editorial Board of the *Journal of Technology Management & Innovation* (www.jotmi.org), regularly acts as a reviewer for international scientific journals, and is a member of various academic and professional associations.

He is currently the Executive Director of the Copec-UC Foundation (http://www.fundcopec-uc.cl/), an organization that supports and fosters technological research and innovation in Chile. He also serves as an expert evaluator for the AVONNI National Innovation Award (https://avonni.cl/) and is a member of various academic and professional organizations in the field.
