Profile

Geologist and academic researcher at department of Mining Engineering of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where I also teach undergraduate and graduate courses and formally collaborate with the Ph.D. and Msc program. I have a Bsc in geology from the University of Chile, an Msc in geology from the University of British Columbia, Canada and a PhD in geology from Cornell University, USA. Finally, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University and Chile and worked as an assistant professor in the geology department at the Austral University until 2024. My expertise encompasses the fields of economic geology, mineral exploration and mineral resources with experience in structural geology, geochemistry, mineralogy and interdisciplinary projects that connect economic geology, foreign policy and mineral economics. I have extensive global field work experience in isolated areas and mine camps and as a consultant for mining companies and governmental entities. The research I carry out is focused on understanding the drivers of mineral deposits formation working from a multidisciplinary approach where I can also provide important insights on large scale geology processes that control the formation of mining resources. My academic and professional experience comprises both laboratory and field work with a strong interdisciplinary input from other scientific fields.
