Doctor en Ciencias de la Tierra con énfasis en Sismología de la Universidad de California, Santa Barbara, Estados Unidos; Magíster en Ingeniería Sismológica de la Universidad Joseph Fourier –Francia– e Ingeniero Civil de la Universidad de los Andes. Sus áreas de investigación incluyen sismología de terremotos, desde el entendimiento del proceso físico basado en registros sísmicos y geodésicos, hasta la simulación de movimiento de suelo producto de terremotos. Actualmente se desempeña como Profesor Asistente de la Escuela de Ingeniería de la Pontificia Universidad Católica.
