Camila Balbontin es Ingeniera Civil Industrial con mención en Transporte y Magíster en Transporte de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Cuenta con un Ph.D de la misma área, realizado en el Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS) en la Universidad de Sydney, en Australia. La investigación de Camila se centra en modelos de demanda, elección discreta, recolección y manejo de datos y modelación econométrica. Además de haberse integrado al Departamento de Ingeniería de Transporte y Logística (DITL) como académica, Camila Balbontin se desempeña como Honorary Research Fellow, en la Universidad de Sydney, donde continúa participando activamente en importantes proyectos de investigación. Ha formado parte de importantes estudios de transporte, tanto en Chile como en Australia. De la misma manera, Camila cuenta con diversas publicaciones en revistas científicas y artículos presentados en conferencias. Fue recientemente electa como presidenta de la Sociedad Chilena de Ingeniería de Transporte (SOCHITRAN), es investigadora invitada del Instituto Sistemas Complejos de Ingeniería (ISCI), investigadora del Centro de Desarrollo Urbano Sustentable UC (CEDEUS), y se ha adjudicado variadas distinciones, tales como el Premio por Excelencia en Docencia y Excelencia en Investigación en Transporte y Logística en la Universidad de Sydney.
